Ruan is a South African Chartered Accountant, originally from Cape Town, South Africa. He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a Bachelor of Accounting degree in 2014, followed by an Honours Bachelor of Accounting degree in 2015. Ruan is registered with the South African Institution of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and registered with the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) in 2019.
Ruan started his auditing career in 2016 with Baker Tilly (Cape Town) and moved to Baker Tilly Cayman in 2019. Ruan has over 8 years of audit experience with a focus on offshore hedge funds, private equity funds and alternative investment structures for the last 5 years and has also been part of the digital assets team of Baker Tilly Cayman. He has in-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) as well as United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (UK GAAP).
Ruan has passed all three levels of the CFA exam, with the final exam passed in February 2024.
