Miguel Lopez

Miguel is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with over sixteen years of experience providing assurance and other services to a variety of industries including insurance, operating, manufacturing and the public sector.

Miguel started his career with KPMG in South Africa during 2003 before moving to KPMG in the Cayman Islands in 2006 where he specialized in the insurance and captive insurance sectors. Miguel joined Baker Tilly in July 2019 after spending sixteen years at KPMG, with his last five years serving as an Audit Director in their insurance practice. Miguel has worked on a wide range of insurance structures such as single-parent captives, group captives, reinsurance companies, catastrophe risk special purpose vehicles and commercial insurance.

Miguel has extensive experience providing audit services to clients that report in accordance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS and International Public Sector Accounting Standards. Miguel also has experience auditing under U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and International Standards on Auditing.
